Integrated psychiatry is a worldwide developing movement that aims at the integration of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) into conventional psychiatry, based on scientific experiments into safety and effectiveness. CAM is diagnosis, treatment and/or prevention which complements mainstream medicine by contributing to a common whole, by satisfying a demand not met by orthodoxy or by diversifying the conceptual frameworks of medicine (Ernst e.a. 1995).
The integrated approach of medicine is supported by the European Parliament and the World Health Organization (EP, 1997; WHO, 2003) and is successfully being applied by no less than 39 medical academic centers in Northern America The American Psychiatric Association (APA) has acknowledged the integrated psychiatry as well ...   more

Lentis is the first health care organization in the Netherlands that founded a Center for Integrative Psychiatry (CIP) where patient care, research and education are equally important. Every year the CIP organizes a conference on Integratve Psychiatry. After three successful years in 2006, 2007 and 2008, with great pleasure we announce the fourth conference on integrative psychiatry to be held on the 10th of March 2010 in Martiniplaza in Groningen.
