Third Dutch Conference on Integrative Psychiatry
New Perspectives on Body and Mind
Home » Conference Integrative Psychiatry 2008
Integrative psychiatry is based on a worldwide development in the standard health care called Integrative Medicine and aims at integrating complementary and alternative treatments (CAM) into conventional medicine, all based on scientific research into effectiveness and safety. Integrative psychiatry has three additional important elements:
- reaffirming and optimizing the therapeutic relation as a key element of every treatment
- the focus is on health and well being
- all aspects of human existence, including biological, psychological, social, ecological, and spiritual features are involved in the treatment.
The focus of the past two years was on giving information about, and stressing the importance of integrative psychiatry. This year we have chosen for a whole different approach, this year the focus is on the practical implementation of integrative psychiatry.
The day contains three plenary lectures by renowned scientists and no less than 23 workshops. The conference is intended for both conventional and alternative medical care givers, scientists, managers and students - advocate or adversary - who wish to discuss the advantages, possibilities, and difficulties of Integrative Psychiatry.
We have invited internationally renowned speakers with special expertise on the topic. From their respective points of view, each will shed light on the theme of Integrative Psychiatry. Posterpresentations shown throughout the day will inform you about several initiatives taken in the field of integrative psychiatry. There will be live music in the foyer and the conference will end with a spectacular performance by the international famous cello octet: Conjunto Ibérico
We look forward to welcome you on the third of December!
