The Center for Mind-Body Medicine has, for thirteen years, used its pioneering model of mind-body medicine (meditation, guided imagery, biofeedback, and yoga) and self-expression (through words, drawings, and music) in a meditative and educational small group format to help entire populations that have been traumatized by war and natural disasters.
In this talk, I’ll present the basic principles of the model we’ve used in Kosovo, Israel and Gaza, and in post-9/11 New York City, post-Katrina New Orleans and with US troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. I will also share published and unpublished data demonstrating the powerful and lasting effectiveness of this approach with adults and children.
